SVFD Auxiliary Bingo

Bingo  + Hot Dogs +  Treats  =  FUN

The Sumpter Community Schoolhouse was filled with the kind of fun that comes when friends and neighbors come together to enjoy each other’s company. Free hot dogs, snacks, and bingo were added bonuses that made for a great night of fun for everyone.

Folks who gathered for Bingo, sponsored by the SVFD Auxiliary, enjoyed an extra treat, thanks to the generous donation of hot dogs from Lila and John Young.

Mayor and firefighter John Young donated the hot dogs…….firing up the grill gave Sumpter’s own Bratmiester a chance to brush up on his bbq skills as the Memorial Day Sumpter Flea Market fast approaches.

The BBQ skills are needed as the volunteers of the Sumpter Volunteer Fire Dept. will be once again selling hot dogs and sausages to raise money for the dept. Speaking of raising money….the SVFD Auxiliary will take their place beside the firefighters as they sell tasty treats baked and donated by Sumpter residents. Don’t miss the root beer floats, for which the Auxiliary has become quite famous for in past flea markets!

Those who were not able to attend will have another chance to win the jackpot next month as there was no jackpot winner last night. Thanks to the all those who attended last night, the jackpot next month will be $230.

FSVC Meeting ~ Tuesday May 14th

Our next FSVC meeting will be held next Tuesday – yes Tuesday rather than Monday due to scheduling conflict with the Mother’s Day weekend.

We will meet at 10 a.m. at the School House / Community Building on Mill Street.

Items of discussion will be Board Member position change of President, Secretary and Member at Large.  We will also hold a vote.

Plan for the next breakfast and plans for our summer of activities.

Let us know if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing everyone present.

Community Breakfast in April

Spring is here and does seem to be strongly asserting itself. Springs flowers are popping up and even the grass is getting green!

It’s beautiful up here in Sumpter! We’d love for you to not only see spring in Sumpter….but we’d really love to serve you a wonderful breakfast too!

Saturday, April 20th, 7-10 am at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse

475 N. Mill St. (just above the Stage Stop Gas Station)

Enjoy the food prepared by our hard working volunteers and meeting new friends.

Remember….the breakfast is by donation only – that means, you only pay what you think the breakfast was worth to you! Money raised goes toward civic projects throughout Sumpter. Currently, we are working towards further development of the City Park, which includes adding long-needed restrooms there.

FSVC will be having it’s monthly planning meeting on Monday, April 15th, 10 am at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse. Anyone who would like to volunteer is welcome to attend!

Community Breakfast

The March Community Breakfast will be Saturday, March 16th at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse. Breakfast will be served from 7-10 am

The regular monthly meeting of Friends of Sumpter Valley Community will be Monday, March 11th at 10 am at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse.

Poker Run Breakfast

2012 Sumpter Poker Run

Poker Run is this Saturday from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm.

You can purchase your tickets at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse.

This year, you can buy your Poker Run tickets, and grab something to eat at the same time….!

Friends of Sumpter Valley Community will be serving breakfast burritos at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse from 7-10 am as the Sumpter Valley Blue Mountain Snowmobile Club sells Poker Run tickets.

New this year…..

We will be selling baked goods on Friday night, as the snowmobile club sells advance poker run tickets from 6-8 pm at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse.

Funds raised through our breakfasts and baked goods sales go toward adding restrooms and a playground to our City Par.k

It was a beautiful day for a homemade breakfast!  Lots of sunshine,  blue skies,  and great fellowship!

We had a good turnout of friends,  neighbors,  and visitors this morning!

Hello Sumpter!

We would like to introduce ourselves to you!  We are Friends of Sumpter Valley Community. Actually, the name is different, but we are still pretty much the same group of volunteers serving our community that you have come to know in Sumpter!

The idea of community breakfasts started several years ago as a way to raise money for needed projects in Sumpter. The breakfasts have been successful and we would like to thank everyone who has been supporting each breakfast! There has been so much support from the community, that we have been thinking of other ways that we can give back to our community by bringing volunteers together in support of events around town.

We know it’s not just about money…!

We are all different, and come from many different backgrounds….yet there is one thing that holds us all together…the love we have for living in Sumpter!

Our organization has grown to include supporting our community in ways that don’t have anything to do with money!

We have partnered with the Sumpter Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary to look for even more ways to raise money in support of our community and we look forward to serving Sumpter in the coming new year!

If you have any ideas you would like to share with us…you are welcomed to share them with us at one of our public meetings held monthly. Our next meeting is Monday, February 11th, 10 a.m. at the Sumpter Community Schoolhouse – 475 N. Mill St. (just above the State Stop.) We’d love to see you!
